Jamie Ly

Artist member since 2023
Toronto, Ontario

Jamie Ly is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist with a current focus on miniature scale gouache paintings where she researches and explores themes of Chinese culture and experiences - past, present, and future - with an emphasis on time, memory, and nostalgia. Jamie’s goal is to celebrate the resiliency of Asian heritage and preserve Asian-owned storefronts as a statement on the importance of history, legacy and memory. She has co-founded FACES Collective which focuses on widening participation in the arts sector by dismantling barriers for BIPOC artists. Jamie was the lead artist and facilitator for FACES Collective’s inaugural residency in August 2022 which was fully funded for its participants - a priority and goal that Jamie was insistent to establish and carry out. Jamie is currently working on publishing a zine as a cumulative project for the 2022 FACES Residency Program.
